The Welcome Committee consists of the Core committee and up to 15 Subcommittees. Here is a brief description of the 15 Subcommittees.
BC Place Greeters – Volunteers will greet visitors arriving for the three Big Meetings scheduled at the stadium Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday morning. Greeters will be needed both outside the venue at the entry gates as people enter the Stadium, and inside the venue, at the section entries.
Convention Centre Greeters – Volunteers will welcome guests at the Vancouver Convention Centre as well as directing traffic within the Convention Centre from Wednesday morning through Saturday evening
Guest Welcome and Volunteer Headquarters Room – Volunteers on this committee will be staffing the volunteer headquarters at the Convention Centre as well as attending to details of welcoming special guests (non-AA professional guests) as needed.
Global Languages – Volunteers will staff a special booth from Wednesday morning through Sunday morning to help ensure the comfort and convenience of guests for whom English is not a first language. The booth is in the Vancouver Convention Centre, and will be accessible by phone.
Hotel Lobby Greeters – Volunteers will staff information tables in hotel lobbies in downtown Vancouver and in key suburban hotel sites from Thursday morning until Saturday evening.
Marathon Meetings – Volunteers will chair and host the various marathon meetings from Thursday evening to Sunday morning. Meetings will need to be coordinated to cover our three languages of English, French and Spanish.
Registration – Some of these volunteers will staff the registration area in the Convention Centre. They may provide badge holders and information packets to those who are pre-registered. Others may staff the information tables for questions about the Convention
Sidewalk Greeters and Thursday Night Block Party – Volunteers will be stationed at the Downtown Core and on sidewalks near the nexus of Convention activities from Thursday afternoon until Saturday evening.
Walk the Walk – Volunteers will be stationed along the route from the Vancouver Convention Centre to BC Place Stadium.
Accessibilities – These volunteers will be a source of information for physically challenged and other individuals who feel the need for additional support. Their booth is in the Convention Centre, and they will also be present at BC Place for the Big Speaker Meetings. They will also be volunteering at the accessibility shuttle drop-off points at the Vancouver Convention Centre and BC Place Stadium.
Topic Meeting Greeters & Counters – These volunteers will greet members as they attend the topic meetings during the day Friday and Saturday in the Vancouver Convention Centre and all surrounding hotels/venues with scheduled sessions on the Convention Campus, and provide estimated counts of the numbers of participants.
Transportation Hub Greeters – These volunteers will greet our visitors at the airport, train station and bus depot. They will guide them toward transportation to their local destinations.
SkyTrain Greeters – Volunteers will be at each of the Canada Line Stations, and at the Sky Train transfer stations (Commercial-Broadway, Production Way-University, Lougheed Town Centre, Columbia Station), and at the Coquitlam and King George Stations.
Volunteer Kick-Off Meeting & Training Orientation – Volunteers will help set up and organize the official start of the 2025 International Convention Volunteer Welcome Committee activities. The goal of the Kick-Off Meeting is to provide information about the volunteer process and to sign up volunteers for the various subcommittees. The June 2025 Training is the full orientation meeting for volunteers.
Communications Committee – Volunteers be responsible for monitoring and proactively participating on social media platforms regarding the 2025 International Convention which are frequented by AA members, as well as developing additional local messaging and visuals consistent with all International Convention GSO messaging.
