The 2025 International Convention Volunteer Kick-Off was an amazing experience for hundreds of attendees at the end of January 2025. There was a mini-flag ceremony where people carried in the flags of some of the attending countries – this was a representation of the BIG FLAG ceremony on Friday night at B.C. Place in July. Everyone was cheering each nation.
There were great messages from many people including the General Service Board Chair Scott H. who covered history of A.A. in B.C., the manager of the General Service Office Bob W. who told a heartwarming story of a person he met that day, and International Convention Welcome Committee Chair Trish L. who got the crowd excited talking about the people coming from all over the world and how us volunteers have the honour to welcome them to our country, city, and convention.
Convention Registrar Sue B. gave an amazing overview of the VolunteerHub software that all volunteers will be using.
Then all the International Convention Volunteer Welcome Committee chairs and co-chairs gave enthusiastic overviews of their committees and what they do (B.C. Place Greeters, Convention Centre Greeters, etc). After that the kick-off attendees got to visit each committee’s innovative and very creative displays to find out more about each committee and about their volunteer opportunities.
